Finding solutions for security challenges
Security concerns in the public sector are more prevalent than ever before.
Data from NHS Digital found that the health service received nearly 30,000 malicious emails in March and April of this year, and just last month the National Cyber Security Centre announced that it was investigating an increased number of ransomware attacks affecting schools, colleges and universities.
Public sector organisations are a valuable target for malicious actors, particularly as thousands of employees work remotely as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Unprotected endpoints accessing internal networks can potentially open the door to the theft of vital data, threatening the privacy and security of citizens and causing disruption to essential services.
At a time when budgets are stretched to the limit, departmental decision makers have the unenviable task of balancing the cost of investment in improved security measures with the devastating impact of data breaches. It is a sobering fact that of all the fines issued by the Information Commissioner’s Office for data breaches since 2010, the public sector is responsible for the highest number.
Against this backdrop and with the increased need to comply with strenuous regulations including GDPR, it is incumbent on organisations to look for trusted partners upon whom they can rely for the best advice.
At Oncore IT we fulfil this role. We have just been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s G-Cloud 12 framework.
Crown Commercial Service supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2019/20, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits worth over £1bn – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.
